Melia Braco: Perfect Weekend Escape
The Melia Braco property is a great weekend escape. Located in Trelawny, about forty minutes from Montego Bay, the village style accommodations is ideal for couples, families and a solo traveller like me.
Sometimes, I just don’t want to think about food, touring and the other things that come along with planning a weekend escape. This all inclusive resort on Jamaica’s north coast made it easy for me sleep, read, dip in the ocean, eat and repeat.
Summertime in Jamaica means lots of fruits on the trees and the ones at Melia were bountiful. I spotted naseberries, sweet sop, sour sop, grapefruit, pomegranate and lots of mango trees. The grounds keepers are quite friendly and will pick any fruit for you, once it is ripe.
My room was right on the beachfront and the gentle waves were my lullaby at night. I liked the set up at Melia Braco. Not once, did I feel overcrowded, there was plenty of space to roam and rooms are not claustrophobic at all. It was hard to leave my lovely king sized bed and the equally lovely balcony with rocking chairs. The Wifi reception was most excellent, as I had to do just little bit of work and upload a few videos before hitting the beach, and those videos went fast.
Melia Braco has three restaurants and a jerk pan man by the pool side. My plate was full with jerk chicken and pork at lunchtime. There is a ‘jelly man’ seeing up fresh coconut from his handcart. During the night the main square comes alive with dancing and live music. As an added touch, guests are given the opportunity to meet the resort’s management for happy hour.
If you are looking for a weekend of pure relaxation to recharge, then Melia Braco fits the bill.
